MOYA LEAR BECOMES AN IRISH CITIZEN
Moya
Lear became an Irish Citizen at a private reception at her home at River House
on August 17th. The Honorary Consul of Ireland for the State of
Nevada conferred citizenship Of the Republic of Ireland on Moya Marie Olsen Lear
on behalf of the Government of Ireland witnessed by Margaret Brady, Joseph and
Joy Crowley.
Moya’s
grandmother was born Louise Geary in Dublin Ireland in 1862. Her great
grandfather was Gustavus Geary who was a Professor of Music. He immigrated with
his family to Chicago in 1869. Louise Geary married Harry Clem and their
daughter Lillian married John Sigvard Olsen and their daughter was Moya Marie
Olsen.
On the 4th of July 1999 Moya and Dr. Brady sat down and discussed Citizenship by descent and Moya announced, “ Barney is going to make me an Irish citizen “ It took some time as Moya has lived in interesting and far flung places with her husband the Great inventor William Lear. On August 15th 2001 Moya Marie Olsen Lear’s name was entered in the Foreign Birth Register at the Department of Foreign Affairs in Dublin Ireland. Dr. Brady on the 17th of August 2001 referred to Moya’s support of the Irish Student Placement programs in the Department of Physiology & Cell Biology at University of Nevada School of Medicine and her constant support of all things Irish such as receiving the Irish Minister of Education on St. Patrick’s Day and orientation receptions for The Irish undergraduates.
Moya’s Great Grandmothers home is now part of the Psychology Department at Trinity College Dublin Ireland and her Great Grandfathers music studios are now the Offices of Catholic Welfare in Dublin Ireland. Dr. Brady stated that he was honored and privileged to bestow the Citizenship of Ireland on this Great Lady.
